Job Summary

This position exists to provide high-level administrative support for the Community Affairs Unit at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). Areas of responsibilities will include event support, form/template development, scheduling assistance and purchasing. This position will also collaborate directly with the Community Affairs team, MPCA staff at all levels, and a diverse group of public and community representatives. There will be occasional travel required to community meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated advanced administrative support experience to include strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and oral communication skills sufficient to provide clear, concise, courteous, prompt, and effective service in person, via e-mail and phone.

Experience scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, reserving rooms and logistical support.

Advanced proficiency in word processing skills sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, including spreadsheets, tables, charts, and graphs.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in dealing with information that is both sensitive and protected.

Ability to work independently and use sound judgement without close supervision.

Ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner with limited supervision or direction.

Human relation skills sufficient to maintain good working relationships with agency staff and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with logistics or event planning.

Experience developing communiyt relationships.

Experience preparing and editing documents and presentations for a public audience.

Advanced understanding of environmental issues and policy, as well as knowledge of existing programs operated by the MPCA, local governments and other state agencies.

Experience effectively working with diverse communities.

Ability to clarly explain standards, policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work with multiple deadlines and continuous interruptions and changes to workload.

Ability to lead, work independently, and be a member of a team.

Additional Requirements

Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver's license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
