Position Title: Territory Sales Specialist - North Bay, CA - Medical Device Sales

Position Overview

The Territory Sales Specialist (TSS) will be responsible for supporting sales generation and driving sales revenue to exceed division priorities, define and develop new business opportunities that clearly reflect the company’s goals and contribute to overall team success, all while supporting select Territory Manager(s) (TM). The TSS will work with the Territory Manager(s) to develop, maintain, and build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients. Individuals will develop and exhibit clinical knowledge, stay current on products, programs, and competitive knowledge. One must be able to manage challenging situations quickly, directly and without hesitation and be creative in their problem solving. Additionally, the TSS will develop, with the assistance of the Territory Manager(s), to build and maintain constructive relationships in key accounts with physicians, nurses, technicians, materials management, hospital management and executive hospital personnel. Individuals will manage their role with integrity and in accordance with TELA Bio’s Code of Ethics and all applicable TELA Bio policies, rules, and procedures

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for gaining knowledge, alongside the assigned TM(s), on educating physicians on the benefits to patients of OviTex, benefits to support Account Manager in planning and implementing sales development plan for assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with assigned TM(s), to prepare and implement materials to communicate complex clinical data with the goal of assisting surgeons in appropriate product selection based on patient co-morbidities and wound classifications.
  • Collaborate with firm’s Commercial Operations team to ensure successful outcomes for clients in assigned territory - hospitals, surgeons, and patients.
  • Assist in developing and implementing business plans to ensure short-term revenue objectives are met while longer-term opportunities are also developed and optimized in the assigned geographic area.
  • Maintain and update, with support from the assigned TM(s), the firm’s CRM database, ensuring up to date client information is uploaded into the system.
  • Participate in national and regional commercial team meetings and calls as appropriate; share best practices with peers to ensure success is replicated across the team.
  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the TELA Bio Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
  • Completes requested and required requested information in a timely manner including call reports, monthly results report, and additional items as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or Minimum 2+ years of successful sales experience in the life science industry, preferably in the biologics space; experience in hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction or plastic/soft tissue reconstruction preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience handling biologic tissue-based materials
  • Knowledge of both clinical needs of physicians and mechanisms of action of host response to biologic implants
  • Ability to identify new market opportunities for biologic constructs based on unmet needs of general and reconstructive surgeons
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize work appropriately with a focus on timelines and deliverables
  • Strong communication (written, oral and interpersonal) and presentation skills; demonstrated experience presenting to diverse audiences including, but not limited to, employees, physicians and key opinion leaders
  • Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities; ability to formulate business solutions for a myriad of challenges
  • Collaborative team orientation
  • Ability to comply with all hospital compliance policies and procedures
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license

Must be able to:

  • Ability to carry and lift product inventory of up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for a minimum of 4 hours.
  • Ability to attend surgical procedures of up to a minimum of 4 hours
  • Must have demonstrated ability to multitask in high pressure, changing conditions.

Working Conditions

This position works in a home office, hospital, HCP office or clinical environment. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. Frequent travel within the territory is required.

Primary Location and Travel

Must be located within the desired territory - Frequent travel within the territory is required.

We anticipate that on an ongoing basis this role will be a field office-based position although incumbent will need to participate in face to face Corporate and Commercial leadership meetings as needed. Travel up 50% to meet the ongoing needs of the business. Travel required within Territory, in support of other Territories within the Region, and to national/area sales meetings and conventions.
