Director, Development - District Office

FUNCTION:The Director, Development will secure financial gifts for San Jacinto College. The Director, Development is expected to set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of fundraisers' interests, and cultivate relationships donors, employees, and volunteers. The position will be an active participant in fundraising events, meet with donors as needed, and maintain good communication.

The successful director will build lasting relationships with donors, and keep them informed on how their financial input is helping students achieve their education goals. Preferred candidates will be trustworthy, self-motived, deadline-driven, and able to work flexible hours.

MAJOR REPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Functions:
  • Report to the Vice Chancellor to Set specific goals and objectives to effectively advance solicitation of major gifts and generate new prospects.
  • Secure new gifts and commitments for San Jacinto College. Conduct documented face-to-face personal visits, qualify new major gift prospects annually, and submit major proposals. Manage funding of scholarships, student success initiative grants, and expand opportunites for students. Ensure Foundation complies with donor restrictions and federal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with appropriate College staff and Board members to develop prospect strategies and build relationships.
  • Develop a working knowledge of planned giving and work with the vice chancellor to develop strategies for appropriate solicitation of planned gifts.
  • Prepare proposals and gift agreements as required for proper gift documentation.
  • Provide stewardship of gifts including acknowledgment, coordination with event planner for recognition events, and dedications.


Additional Job Functions:
  • Attend various College and campus meetings on behalf of the Foundation.
  • Report monthly on the progress of action plans, maintain information about prospect and donor contact in Raiser's Edge NXT.
  • Generate content for materials needed such as case statements, brochures, etc. as needed for obtaining gifts.


Salary Grade: 30

REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Trustworthy.

  • Ability to work independently with high degree of integrity.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.


Preferred Education:
  • Master's degree in business or a related field.


Required Experience:
  • Four (4) years of successful professional experience in fundraising or related non-profit organization work, alumni relations, public relations, marketing, or closely related field.


Preferred Experience:
  • Professional fundraising experience in higher education.
