Major Job Responsibilities:

The Buyer is responsible for daily purchasing activities, and material planning to support production, maintenance and MRO requirements. This position will be required to sustain Just-in-Time (JIT) principles and meet daily, monthly and yearly dashboard metrics of company on-time delivery, turns, aged inventory and cycle count requirements. Must have solid experience with ordering from established BOM's and using forecasting tools. The position will be located at our Twinsburg facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Run daily reorder advices using established queries and Microsoft based reporting
  • Manage customer-specific stocking programs to maintain proper inventory levels using historical data and forecasting tools
  • Maintain proper inventory levels for all commodities required in the Bill of Material (BoM) of finished goods using centralized inventory reorder advice

Requisition Processing

  • MRO
  • KanBan
  • Maintenance
  • Capital (AFE)
  • Process, manage and communicate requisitions in a timely manner to keep proper stocking levels for non-production activities

System software for inventory management

  • Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon)
  • Understanding and usage of Microsoft Dynamics (Solomon) MRO system for all SKU activities
  • Part set-up
  • Part maintenance

Production Control

Managing inventory

  • Cycle count program
  • Month-end inventory count in the warehouse, WIP, and finished goods for reporting
  • Meeting targeted inventory reduction goals
  • Cost-saving Programs relating to Materials and Purchasing
  • Scheduling

Decision Making

  • Participate in the establishment and negotiations for supply contracts, pricing, and terms
  • Selection and or dismissal of current supply base for the non-strategic inventor
  • One time buy sourcing
  • Generate RFQ
  • Multiple quote comparison and selection
  • Creating and evaluating Vender performance reports
  • Daily and timely interaction with supply base regarding late deliveries, credits, rejected product, backorders, price discrepancies, and inventory reporting
  • Establish and maintain required blanket purchase orders
  • Establish and maintain yearly contracts
  • Preventative maintenance (PM) agreements
  • Service Contracts

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Business, Materials, Purchasing, Logistics, or Management preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing process environment.
  • APICS Certification a plus
  • Lean Principles TQM certification a plus
  • Strong planning, organization, communication (written and oral), and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret information and develop, recommend and implement solutions.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
