PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Guadalupe River State Park, 3350 Park Road 31, Spring Branch, TX 78070

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Performs highly complex (senior-level) administrative support work. Under the direction of the Park Superintendent, this position is responsible for coordinating and managing the daily business operations of the administrative team at Guadalupe River State Park/Honey Creek SNA. Duties include preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; performs budget management duties, maintains, monitors, and reconciles park budgets and expenditures. Prepares reports as required by the Regional office and Austin Headquarters. Prepares correspondence regarding personnel, purchasing, in house memos and outside correspondence regarding park related matters. Trains employees and volunteers in all facets of park operations; maintains office supplies and inventories; assists with park programs and special events and prepares reports on related office procedures. Assists with human resources management duties, office staff scheduling, prepares and maintains personnel documents and files. Ensures compliance with fiscal control procedures. Responsible for purchasing and compliance with established purchasing procedures. Uses CAPPS for preparing purchase orders, requisitions, annual contracts, entering credit card transactions, uniform orders, timesheets, and mileage logs. Works closely with Superintendent in budget planning. Provides administrative support utilizing personal computers for preparation of correspondence, spreadsheets, and reports. Organizes and maintains park files. Provides customer service, camper registration, revenue collection and accounting. Handles complaints and emergencies and interacts with a large volume of park visitors. Works under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures.



Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience:

Four years experience performing administrative support duties.

Licensure:

If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

Three years of progressively responsible experience in Office management or functioning as a supervisor;

Three years of progressively responsible experience in administration of State purchasing and accounting;

Three years experience in park operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of administrative processes, procedures and systems;

Knowledge of filing and records management systems;

Knowledge of forms design principles;

Knowledge of office procedures and terminology;

Knowledge of human resource management principles;

Knowledge of State purchasing rules;

Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook;

Skill in effective verbal and written communication;

Skill in using standard office equipment;

Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner;

Skill in interpreting, analyzing and explaining organizational policies and procedures;

Skill in identifying, researching and compiling information;

Skill in supervising and training others;

Skill in planning, assigning and/or supervising the work of others;

Skill in analyzing budgets and completing complex budget reports;

Skill in State purchasing and contracting techniques;

Skill in training;

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;

Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use;

Required to work 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays;

Required to work overtime as necessary;

May be required to operate a State vehicle;

Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays;

Required to perform manual labor including, lifting supplies and materials up to 20 lbs.;

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures;

Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
