Denver Parks and Recreation has an opening for a full-time, fully benefitted Maintenance Technician to provide semi-skilled trades support for the maintenance and repair of various parks related facilities. This position will focus primarily on painting and graffiti removal tasks. This position is a great opportunity for someone looking to build skills towards their career as a skilled trades worker.

This position will report to 4495 Jason Street. This position will participate in our 9/80 flex schedule plan, leading to having every other Friday off to enhance work/life balance.

The City and County of Denver's Parks and Recreation department boasts one of the most diverse, expansive, and historic park and recreation systems in the West, maintaining 22 mountain parks and 260 urban parks, including 24 lakes, 80,000 trees, more than 80 miles of trails, 34 designated parkways, 10 off-leash dog parks, 29 pools, 30 recreation centers, 150 playgrounds, 300 athletic fields, and 8 public golf courses.

Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Perform semi-skilled trades work in painting and graffiti removal to support parks facilities maintenance and repair or related projects
  • Safely and effectively operate equipment and vehicles to complete job responsibilities
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify maintenance or repair needs; maintain records and prepare reports, which includes estimating materials, labor, and equipment costs
  • Assist other trades workers in the repair, maintenance, and servicing of parks facilities and projects
  • As needed, perform standard level trades work in a variety of other areas such as cement finishing, painting, carpentry, masonry, mechanical maintenance, minor electrical, minor heating, and ventilating
  • Perform other related duties as requested such as snow removal operations

About You

We are seeking a reliable and driven individual looking to develop a well-rounded skill set in facilities maintenance operations. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:
  • Two or more years of graffiti removal experience using graffiti remover and pressure washing
  • One or more years of painting experience
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques used in paint applications
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety standards related to safe disposal of paint and wastewater collection when power washing

  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience performing a variety of duties in construction, mechanical, or facility maintenance
  • Licensures/Certification(s): This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
  • Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
