Position Description

Assists Superintendent in the supervision of work in the care and maintenance of an assigned area such as agriculture, athletics, grounds, housing and residence halls, physical plant, maintenance, etc.

Major/Essential Functions

Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practice of the HVAC trade
Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade
Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of HVAC technicians
Ability to interpret and work from penciled sketches, drawings, plans, and blueprints.
Ability to make material and labor estimates
Inspect completed work sites to evaluate quality and quantity
Baseline computer skills as they relate to entry of time, work order system, and email Document, record and verify work accomplished, time expended, and parts used on appropriate forms and in the CMMS system
Secure necessary supplies and materials from Stores as required for completion of work orders
Work in coordination with contractors and other supervisory personnel on all matters pertaining to scheduling
Responsible for interviewing and employing qualified individuals for the HVAC crew.
Provide classroom and on the job training for employees to teach and upgrade skills
Complete employee performance evaluations.

Occasional Duties

Performs on-call duties as essential personnel of the Institution and at the direction of the Institution and Supervisors.
Performs any and all duties deemed necessary and assigned by any supervisory level Facilities Operations personnel.
Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver's License to be able to operate State vehicles to run errands and pick up parts.

Required Qualifications

Two years formal training in an accredited institution such as a junior college or trade school, five years of experience in supervision of building maintenance trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification or apprentice/journeymen license in specific trade.
