The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services within the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) division of agency.

This announcement will be used to fill permanent, full and part-time, benefit eligible and intermittent positions at the Forensic Nursing Home on rotating shift and night shift.

The Forensic Nursing Home provides a comprehensive scope of care to resident's on their journey though acute and chronic mental and physical health conditions. The Forensic Nursing Home team supports care that is person oriented, respectful and engaging. Residents reside at Forensic Nursing Home for long term care, short term rehabilitative care and end of life care.

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides experienced, professional nursing care to clients in a therapeutic environment. Assess the needs of clients, develops individualized nursing plans to meet those needs in coordination with the multi-disciplinary team, provides direct nursing interventions and/or delegates specific nursing tasks to appropriate staff and evaluates the effectiveness of the plan and the care provided.

Future Registered Nurses who are within six (6) months of graduating and taking their NCLEX-RN are encouraged to apply. Contingent job offers may be made upon successful completion of degree and passing of NCLEX-RN.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved nursing school
  • Current licensure in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse
  • Ability to pass/perform CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Intervention

Preferred Qualifications
  • Patient care experience within a mental health or behavioral health setting
  • Bachelors of nursing degree
