General Summary

The Technical Manual Developer I is responsible for incorporating approved technical data into technical publications.

Essential Job Functions

• Reviews vendor/customer provided data, including Technical Publications Deficiency Reports, Manual Change Requests, and Airworthiness Change Requests.
• Interprets engineering/logistic support analysis data, or Publication Change Requests to develop and revise technical publications.
• Develops and revises signal flow/logic diagrams, if required.
• Imports technical illustrations and graphics into technical publications.
• Adheres to Quality Control guidelines.
• Reviews incorporated data for accuracy.
• Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials.
• Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Interacts collaboratively with internal and external customers as required.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Preferred military skills and rating background, such as Naval Aviation, Surface or Subsurface; Marine Corps; Army; or Coast Guard avionics, electronics, or electrical knowledge.
• Must be capable of learning and adapting to Company software programs needed to complete the project. A partial list of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software programs utilized include:
o Broadvision QuickSilver
o Arbortext
o Adobe Acrobat
• Must be capable of learning and adapting to the following international standards and specifications:
o S1000D
o XML/SGML
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills to communicate with others both verbally and in writing.
• Must interact collaboratively with project managers, technical manual developers, editors, proofreaders, and data management specialists.
• Must have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
• Must demonstrate accuracy and speed while entering data.
• Must have problem solving skills.
• Must be able to interpret customer provided source documentation such as engineering drawings, flight safety, and operating procedures.
• Must demonstrate proficient computer skills to include word processing, graphics manipulation, spread sheet development, data base familiarity, and desktop publishing applications. Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Access.
• Must have the aptitude to quickly learn additional computer skills for web-based courseware development to include Java script, HTML, JAVA, SQL/TSQL, and Access.
• Must be capable of operating standard office equipment, such as personal computers, telephones, printers, copiers, scanners, and facsimile machines.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract.

Education and Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six (6) years of Naval Aviation, Surface, or Subsurface; Marine Corps; Army; or Coast Guard avionics, electronics, or electrical knowledge, and completion of advanced armed services technical school curriculum, OR
• Six (6) years of experience in a relevant civilian technical field and completion of a civilian technical trade school. Relevant undergraduate/graduate study may be substituted for experience where each year of study equals one year of relevant experience.
