Comtech Telecommunications is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer professional to join our team!

The successful candidate will execute and improve upon Comtech’s receiving inspection, in-process, final QC , scrap reduction, process yields, FPY, Chair the bi-weekly MRB meeting, scrap approval and supplier quality program initiatives.

This person will work closely with quality engineering, supply chain, internal & Supplier audits, and manufacturing engineering to meet specified goals and objectives. This includes but is not limited to the approval of new suppliers, as well as interfacing with existing supplier base. In addition, this individual would provide leadership and guidance relative to supplier programs (supplier report cards, improvement teams, and supplier audits) be responsible for product validation and certification, including documentation, evaluation, and deployment of ground and airborne based RF amplifiers.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Assist in developing the processes and systems needed to improve our internal process and to manage the supplier quality program.
  • Take the lead as the Chairperson on the Bi-Weekly MRB Team including schedule the meetings and disposition.
  • Prepares the monthly scrap documentation and distribute for the local Leadership and Corporate approval.
  • Take the lead on internal Supplier issue that come up in Mfg. & on the daily Gemba walks.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and engineering during new product development to address component manufacturability and quality concerns.
  • Generate, maintain, and evaluate supplier quality reports, and initiate appropriate actions to establish an acceptable baseline for assigned suppliers.
  • Assist in evaluating and developing new suppliers for certification and collaborating.
  • Assists supply chain with supplier screening activities.
  • Provide a feedback loop to the suppliers to ensure proper communication and compliance.
  • Manage the supplier corrective action program.
  • Provide input and support to the supplier performance tracking system.
  • Responsible for supplier audit scheduling, performing audits and monitoring of the suppliers.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of material issues.
  • Provide technical assistance for first article inspections and ongoing performance monitoring of supply chain.
  • Select and apply appropriate inspection strategy and statistical techniques for incoming materials. (shared with quality engineering)
  • Works with engineering and operations as appropriate to improve product performance and quality.
  • Experience with government contracts.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Thorough knowledge of Quality Engineering, supply chain best practices and ISO quality management systems.
  • Minimum of Seven (7) years’ experience in a like capacity or equivalent in manufacturing.
  • Strong background in statistical techniques, measurement tools and SPC tools, and prior auditing experience.
  • Scrap reduction, process improvements, & COPQ Improvement.
  • ASQ or other quality related ISO 9001:2015, AD9100 D certifications (CQE, CQA, CRE, ISO Lead Assessor) a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and design specifications and have a good manufacturing background.
  • Experience with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 or J-STD-001.
  • Experience with Supplier Scorecards and Supplier Audits.
  • Proficient in technical writing skills, communications, and proficient with Microsoft Suite with an emphasis on Access, Excel (Pivot tables) and Minitab statistical software.
  • Experienced in team building and facilitation.
  • Motivated and a self-starter.
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Knowledge & experience in making PFMEA, Quality Control Plans and R/R or MSA Studies

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or equivalent experience.

Compensation: $125,000-140,000, depending on experience
