The Senior Quality Improvement Manager for In-Service Teacher Education will oversee the establishment and production process of pre- and in-service curriculum development, learning materials, books and teachers guides. In leading Result 2, they will work with EGEA partners to leverage assessment findings, connect system actors, and integrate relevant frameworks, as appropriate, to support in delivering improvements to in-service teacher education and early grade student education.

Your Background and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required, master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 +years of progressive job experience. or a master’s degree and 9 years of experience including curriculum development, project, or publication management experience, with proven experience managing time-sensitive, simultaneous activities and multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in building partnerships and working relationships with government institutions, high-level officials, education professionals, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with instructional materials publishing/production required.
  • Experience in a technical role related to teaching methods in early grade pre- and in-service instruction.
  • Experience with online training and coaching for adult learners is preferred.
  • Experience on donor-funded education projects is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies in pre- and in-service, including formative assessment, differentiated instruction, and instructional strategies for individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to oversee, manage, and coordinate all aspects of curriculum development process, production of teaching and learning methods, quality assurance, and process reporting.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, and ethical management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multitask and adjust priorities in a fast-paced working environment to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Must possess the technical, managerial and communication skills to assume all related responsibilities of the COP position on a full-time basis if needed.
  • Effective oral and written communication credentials.
  • Very good command of English Language and Arabic is required.
  • Strong representational and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted authorization to work in Jordan.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Ensure that pre- and in-service course content aligns and successfully equips early grade teachers with adequate subject and pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical skills, and data analysis and utilization.
  • Enhance the quality and alignment of early grade curricula and teaching and learning materials in Arabic, mathematics, and other subjects with universal design for learning, gender-sensitive, and socioemotional learning principles, and playful learning practices.
  • Ensuring the use and usability of teachers’ guides, textbooks, student workbooks, and supplementary materials.
  • Manage the work planning process for Result 2, ensuring activities are technically sound and appropriate to meet program objectives.
  • Provide technical assistance and oversight of project approaches, activities, and materials aimed at expanding effective in-service instruction methods, enhance/expand diagnostic tools and assessments, early grade curriculum development, and teaching and learning materials.
  • Oversee planning, logistics and quality of training delivery.
  • Support EGEA’s Collaborating Learning and Adapting (CLA) process, maintaining a data-informed learning culture across responsible areas and fostering a team-wide commitment to monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Demonstrate and promote IREX’s values, management principles and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in management and mentoring of EGEA team.
  • Work with the senior reporting and communications officer to create outcome-focused communication materials such as weekly success stories, newsletter articles, blogs, and/or other communication material to share our story with USAID and the broad international education community as required.
  • Manage project’s partners, including oversight of technical deliverables.
  • Build private sector partnerships to increase Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM) access and quality; harness technologies to amplify teacher and student digital resources.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to EGEA Result 2: Strengthened quality of early grade student education, managing staff, consortium partners and activities to identify efficiencies, maximize results, promote sustainability, and ensure that implementation is on schedule, within budget, and responsively adapting to changes and lessons learned throughout.
  • Work in close coordination with the Senior Early Grade Systems and Policies Manager, the Senior Early Grade Quality Improvement Manager, and the MEL team to ensure seamless alignment between pre-service and in-service program components, the policy environment and tracking of key project indicators.
  • Supervise the work of team of managers, trainers, officers, and coordinators hosted in consortium partners and focused on in-service professional development, curriculum and TLM.
  • Manage a team of technical advisors, officers, and coordinators who will provide technical and logistical support to the program.
