SLSCO, Ltd, one of the premier rapid response and long-term disaster recovery firms in the nation, is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team.

The Project Accountant works directly with the project teams to oversee the financial functions necessary for profitable completion of the assigned project(s). The Project Accountant has responsibility for AP, AR, and project compliances. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, an effective communicator and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review vendor invoices and contractor pay applications thoroughly to ensure billings are accurate and in accordance with contracts.
  • Analyze and investigate billing discrepancies.
  • Track compliance and verify completeness and accuracy of lien releases submitted by vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable requirements including insurance.
  • Maintain client system of record, program database, and all necessary records and systems for the program.
  • Correspond with general contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors regarding invoicing and payment inquiries.
  • Ensure invoice packages are complete and facilitate timely payment of approved invoices.
  • Obtain W-9s and payment instructions for new vendors.
  • Research any vendor or project manager questions regarding payment status.
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Understand and work with project team to ensure compliance with Section 3 and HUB Utilization goals and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with tasks related to project closeout.
  • Facilitate month-end close process and ensure all transactions are properly recorded and accounted for in the Accounting System.
  • Reconcile database information and perform other reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; plus 3-5 years relevant work experience
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
  • Experience in government funded construction projects is preferred.
  • Experience with CMiC accounting software and Quickbase is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Capacity and desire to meet deadlines and handle pressure on a daily basis.
  • Proficiency in English language and in Microsoft Office applications

Physical Demands:

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
  • Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).

•Status-Exempt, Regular Full-time employee

•Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
