Description:

PURPOSE:

Moves finished product off the Production floor via hand carts, pallet jack, or powered pallet jack to the appropriate storage location. Ensure all production supplies (bags, boxes, pallets, tape, labels, etc.) are available at all machines at the start of the shift. Reports to the Shift Supervisor for daily assignments. Also, scans the barcode label on each bag/box/bundle/pallet that is removed from the Production floor for Production reporting in real time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Start work 30 minutes before the regular shift start time (6:30 am 1st shift, 2:30 pm 2nd shift, 10:30 pm 3rd shift) to assist prior shift with changeover. Material handlers are also required to stay over to confirm final production counts and to clear the floor.

· Using the Priority Sheet and Work Assignments, see which machines are scheduled to run, make sure that required materials are present and that Quality Production Data Sheet (QPDS) at each machine is correct and current, and check Balance to Mold sheets.

· Print the correct quantity and color of labels (found on QPDS) for each job scheduled to run by taking the standard pieces per hour from the Priority Sheet and multiplying by the number of hours, then dividing by secondary UOM to determine label quantity.

· Check product before removing from floor to make sure no obvious quality defects are present (broken parts, poor fill, grease, etc.). If found, return to the machine for repack.

· Remove all full material handling carts and/or pallets from the Production floor, logging the number of bundles/pallets on the Material Handlers Record Sheet (QS018), and placing them into finished goods staging areas on the first floor. It is up to each Material Handler to communicate with the oncoming shift as to where particular products are being stored.

· Must take care in transporting product to the staging areas to ensure no damage occurs. Utilize mirrors when going around a corner for safety and to minimize damage.

· Product storage areas must be maintained in a neat and orderly fashion, with like products grouped together, to facilitate transfers into general storage. Make sure all labels face out toward the aisle, and that the required sprinkler clearance (18) is maintained. Notify Supervisor of any quality or safety problems encountered.

· Any partially filled boxes/bags/pallets left over at the completion of a job will be moved to the Partials Area near the trash compactor.

· Maintain the Production floor relative to removing/weighing/labeling bags of scrap, emptying trash barrels at least 1 hour before the end of the shift (more often as needed), keeping all running machines stocked with supplies; maintain the appearance of the production supplies area, and maintain the condition of the staging areas.

· Complies with Company policies and procedures and immediately notifies Supervisor of any production, quality or safety issues or concerns.

· May be asked to cover production needs when operators are on break.

· Must make sure the floor is reasonably clear when going on break – there is limited coverage for Material Handlers. Also communicate with any coverage person to make sure both scanning and Material Handler's Record Sheet are maintained.

· Remove all excess packing materials when a job is completed during the shift.

· Assist Supervisor in resolving any inventory discrepancies encountered during the shift.
