Job Summary
The ESH Recreation Assistant, under the supervision of a certified recreational therapist, assists withleisure activities to help patients with disabilities orillnesses. Through games, sports, crafts, and more,they maintain their patients’ physical and emotional well-being to help them integrate back into the community. Their roleinvolves observation and documentation of the client’s well-being and the delivery of appropriate services to promote optimalmental health in an inpatient setting. They facilitatethe implementation of the Personal Recovery Plan ( PRP) within thescope of duties of a non-licensed professional. These duties alsoinclude screening/assessment, scheduling patients for classes,assisting with leading and co-leading recovery mall and on-unitgroups and activities as well as escorting patients to and fromactivities.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
High School Graduate orEquivalent is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Noexperience is required. The employee shall become familiar withHIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protectedhealth information ( PHI) and other personal or sensitiveinformation within their trust during state business byapplying appropriate safeguards and sharing only the informationrequired to deliver agency services. Any personal or sensitiveinformation overheard or seen by the employee will be keptconfidential by not sharing it with others, on or off thework-site grounds. Fully participate in all activities regardingeliminating the use of seclusion and restraints in patientcare including educational requirements, competency development activities, and meeting established performance goals andmeasures. Must have computer competency in approved systems. Musthave excellent customer service skills.
