Responsibilities

A Journeyman Communications Technician will be responsible for maintaining PacifiCorp Communication systems; including but not limited to Voice and Data communication systems, Telephone systems, PBX's, Microwave radio systems, Land Mobile Radio systems, SCADA systems, Power Line Carrier equipment, Chart recorders, Telemetry, Fiber Optics/Lightwave and associated switching or termination equipment. The Communication Technician will also be responsible for installing, testing and certifying any or all of the above listed equipment. They usually work independent work assignments, but may be assigned to work with a Lead Communications Technician or Senior Communications Technician and other company personnel as needed. When assigned, this person will direct the work of an Assistant Communications Technician. The Communication Technician is responsible for vehicles, tools and materials supplied by the Company for use in this position. Position Overview: A Senior Communications Technician is a Journeyman with an FCC license or equivalent who will be responsible for maintaining PacifiCorp Communication systems; including but not limited to Voice and Data communication systems, Telephone systems, PBX's, Microwave radio systems, Land Mobile Radio systems, SCADA systems, Power Line Carrier equipment, Chart recorders, Telemetry, Fiber Optics/Lightwave, supervisory control and associated switching or termination equipment. The Communication Technician will also be responsible for installing, testing and certifying any or all of the above listed equipment. They usually work independent work assignments, but may be assigned to work with other company personnel as needed. When assigned, will direct the work of an Assistant Communications Technician. The Senior Communications Technician shall be responsible for a communications shop, including vehicles, tools, test equipment, spare parts and supplies provided by the Company. The Tech shall prepare reports, records and equipment recommendations incidental to this work. May be capable and qualified to tow and operate a Company furnished snow vehicle that would typically be pulled by a pickup when necessary to perform their duties. When the work requires, he/she shall supervise Communications Technician and Helpers and shall be in charge of the work being performed.
