Job Details:

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. Mercer Engineering Research Center is recruiting for an IT Specialist Team Lead in the Network Systems Directorate. This position performs complex computer technical support functions, asset tracking, and assists with security control activities under the supervision of the Director of Network Systems and Information Assurance. Supervises the Staff IT Specialists and related processes.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides technical assistance regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve complex problems.
• Assigns priority to Help Desk support requests and delegates to Computer Support staff for resolution.
• Manages status of Help Desk support requests and provides aging reports to the Director of Network Systems and Information Assurance.
• Maintains an up-to-date asset database.
• Applies and tests security baselines such as STIGS or CIS to computer hardware.
• Coordinates with vendors, requests quote and completes Expenditure Requests for IT purchases.
• Oversees software and license tracking.
• Maintains daily operations and network administration of the VOIP phone system.
• Oversees proper installation of computer equipment, cables, operating systems, and software for current and new employees.
• Administers SharePoint.
• Coordinates major hardware or software resolutions with vendors for service.
• Communicates with users, Computer Support staff, and the Director of Network Systems and Information Assurance to establish requirements for problem resolution, new systems, or modifications.
• Adds and reviews devices provisioned in the GCC high environment.
• Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for IT services.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• US Citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
• An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or a related discipline from an accredited institution and 4 years directly related experience; or a high school diploma and 8 years of directly related experience.
• Minimum of a Security + certification.
• Demonstrated technical experience with personal computer hardware and software, including Windows, Microsoft Office, GCC or GCC High, and TCP/IP networking.
• Ability to install, repair, and troubleshoot complex issues related to hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
• Ability to set security baseline configurations to computer hardware.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
• Supervisory experience is required.
