Responsibilities

The Intern, Truckload is an exciting opportunity for someone who has an interest in Logistics. This internship program is an opportunity for undergraduates to contribute to EFW’s mission while developing valuable professional skills. The Intern, Truckload will assist with operations, customer service, customer billing and all other on-going quality assurance for Estes Forwarding Worldwide accounts. More specifically, this internship will have direct service provider and customer interaction for shipments and processes requiring the execution of administrative functions, report analysis, problem resolution, and ongoing process improvement.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Assist other areas of the organization such as carrier management, customer service, sales and customer implementations.

Help research all possible express routings via airlines, line haul, pick-up/delivery, scheduling and geographic servicing. Analyze routes for efficiency and cost effectiveness. Negotiate pricing as necessary with both customer and service providers.

Assist with setting-up services with Estes Forwarding service providers. Communicate specific needs to service providers and follow-up to ensure on time service. Manage document flow of agents, surface carriers, air carriers, ocean carriers, international carriers and appropriate FAA documents.

Help process service provider accounts payables and prepare customer invoicing.

Provide support to help maintain on-time service integrity with a goal of 100% on time. Continually monitor and update shipments as defined by Estes Forwarding policies throughout the shipment life cycle of POD status to include periodic 24-hour on-call rotation. Escalate service or customer issues as appropriate.

Assist in the development and continuing refinement of a network of domestic expedited alternative suppliers designed to supplement Estes Express Line’s existing line haul system.

Continually help assess transportation service capabilities and cost considerations in order to creatively service individual customer shipments and Estes Forwarding Worldwide capabilities in both service and yield.

Utilize current and developing Internet tracking applications to effectively tender, update, communicate and monitor shipment forwarding status.

Support and promote company core values.

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret general business documents.

Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence.

Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts with all levels of an organization.

Ability to solve practical problems through standardized solutions that require limited judgment.

Ability to follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve routine problems.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Access, Sequel programs, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.

Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and set priorities.

Demonstrated ability to ensure complete customer satisfaction and to create repeat business opportunities.

Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
