Department Overview

Our special diagnostics and sedation nursing team supports multi-specialty independent testing and ambulatory surgery services at Children's Minnesota Minnetonka Ambulatory Surgery Center and Diagnostic Imaging Center. Our sedation nurses receive training in advanced sedation and nitrous oxide administration; they work within the radiology department and partner with the anesthesia team to provide sedation services. The radiology department is a small, cohesive unit with an experienced and dedicated nursing team that truly values putting kids first. We help to prepare patients for and recover from anesthesia sedation for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and auditory brainstem response (ABR) hearing tests. We also perform peripheral intravenous (PIV) starts, port care, lab draws and nurse administered nitrous and complete pre-sedation phone calls with families. We value teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. We embrace an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Our team is committed to providing excellent care to our patients and families.
