Academic Research Center for Hematology Coordinator

This position is for a research coordinator to coordinate and perform all duties related to study conduct, such as recruitment, scheduling for research study visits, arranging blood draws, and other procedures. The person in this position may need to do blood processing and sample processing and shipping. The incumbent will be housed at the Medical Arts Building (may be in a cubicle or share an office).

Job Summary

Conducts research assessments on study participants. Assists with and adheres to Institutional Review Board (IRB) renewal, modification, and approved protocols. Assists with training staff. Ensures adherence to protocols and corrects issues with data collection.

Essential Functions
  • Attend related training for clinical research studies
  • Review study protocol in detail
  • Organize patient recruitment and participation flow in REDCap or other Clinical Research Management (CRM) system
  • Screen patients in a timely manner for eligibility to participate in the study
  • Develop a good working relationship with personnel in other areas
  • Recruit research subjects through contact with clinical staff, in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Maintain contact with physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and technicians to recruit patients and perform protocols, as well as industry representatives from sponsors and CROs
  • Maintain contact with patients, their families, and referring physicians, IRB personnel, personnel from other study sites, and personnel affiliated with study sponsors
  • Data collection and data entry
  • Assist with monitoring visits

  • Will be required to travel from floor to floor and building to building
  • Will spend time in the office (expected in person about 3 times per week), particularly on clinic days
