Laboratory Technician

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly motivated research technician to join our team in investigating host response during lung infections (see Trevejo-Nunez et al., mBio 2022). The successful applicant will work in a dynamic research environment with experienced researchers to perform experiments aimed at understanding the mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions.

The primary responsibilities of this position include conducting experiments using techniques in the field of microbiology, and immunology. These techniques include cell culture, western blotting, qPCR, ELISA, gel electrophoresis, among others. An important task is mouse husbandry and mouse in vivo experiments in the animal facility.

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out experiments under the guidance of a senior researcher, analyzing data, and presenting results to the research team and principal investigator.

The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related fields. Having experience working in a research laboratory environment is a plus. Experience with cell culture, microbiology, and molecular biology techniques is highly desirable. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as attention to detail, are essential. The successful candidate should be a team player, but also have the ability to work independently. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.

If you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for understanding host-pathogen interactions, and meet the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
